Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance

A vision for the Township's future growth and development

Scio’s Master Plan articulates a vision for the Township’s future growth and development. It is the official Township document which sets forth growth and development policies for the community. The Township derives its authority for the preparation of a Master Plan from Public Act 33 of 2008, as amended.

Master Plan

The Zoning Enabling Act (Public Act 110 of 2006, as amended) gives the Township the authority to adopt zoning ordinances to protect health, safety and welfare through the regulation of land uses, bulk requirements (such as setbacks, building height, lot coverage, etc.), and to promote the goals of the Township Master Plan.
