Recycling Information
Scio Township encourages recycling to reduce landfill deposits and to contribute to environmental health. However, placing improper objects in a recycling bin can do more harm than good. Please follow these simple rules:
- Read the Acceptable Recyclable Materials Flyer (pdf)
- Put materials in the recycling cart loose (no bags)
- When in doubt, leave it out
When recyclables are taken to a facility for processing, loose items placed in curbside recycling bins can be readily separated by type as they are transported on a conveyor belt. However, if the recyclables are in bags, they will be separated and go to the landfill. So, DO NOT BAG YOUR RECYCLABLES.
