Compensation Commission
On June 25, 2021, the Scio Township Board of Trustees adopted an ordinance creating a Compensation Commission. The rules governing Compensation Commissions are broadly determined by statute MCL 41.95. The Commission, consisting of five registered Scio voters, will meet for no more than 15 days every odd-numbered year to review and make salary determinations for each member of the Township Board of Trustees.
The Compensation Commission makes determinations on salary compensation in the form of resolutions that are then sent to the Board of Trustees. If no action is taken by the Board, the salary determinations take effect April 1 of that year. If the Board rejects a determination of the Compensation Commission, the current salary level remains in place.
